The original Tecmo Bowl

I originally started out on TSB, which meant that the real original, the 1988 Tecmo Bowl seemed woefully inadequate when I found out about it. However, given it's roots it still has a place in my heart and I have a section for it.

There is a guy by the name of Brad who's pretty hardcore about it who occasionally stops by my board but given the dead status of just Tecmo Bowl there, typically hangs with the RBI crowd at dee-nee.com. I was just talking to him tonight and apparently he's meeting up with the other guys who post on my board about Tecmo Bowl for a tourney - http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=19723.0

It's amazing how there are more and more tournaments out there (that I'm aware of) that are happening because of internet connectivity and guys who are older now that have the means to travel

Download Section

I really wish I could get all the information out of my old download section and filter it here. Basically, it's going to be a bitch to get all these roms organized but what can you do? Luckily, I do have a bunch of links set up from the Tecmo Wiki. To get things going, I just might put in a monster rom download to get the ball rolling and concentrate on misc stuff people don't readily have access to like fonts and music that I've stock piled over the years.

WTF

I really didn't know a whole lot about this league back when it started, but became aware of it about 3 weeks ago. I checked out their message board and found that it was a really strong league with a bunch of "newer" owners on a free message board shooting out ads.

Given the relative deadness of puretecmo.com and my recent rededication to it, it seemed like we could both help each other out. Talking to Lord Summerisle cemented my initial thoughts as I can typically tell after a good aim talk and seeing a couple of posts that he had his stuff together and that any league will go as far as the commishes will take it.

While it seems as though some of their members are hesitant, that this will be a done deal by the time people read this. I'm hoping along with the switch over that I can get Sois' old league manager working and thus working for any puretecmo leagues. Donny's database is pretty good, but it doesn't do sta uploads and he's just not around right now.

One big advantage about dropping off the face of Tecmo for 6 months is that I became out of touch. In the past, I used to be on top of everything, reading every post on my board, knowing where everything was. However, when I came back I found out immediately that I had trouble finding the new rom, find the new editors, finding most everything. It became entirely clear to me that I needed to put into action some sort of management system I've had in my brain for the last couple of years and now I finally had a reason.

You see, in the past, this was the original Knobbe tecmo site. As you can see, it was fairly organized and informative. However, when there became a need I opened a message board and soon it became the focal point because of the input of so many different people and it's ease of use. Eventually the site fell about the wayside, especially since it was so painful to keep it up to date.

Fast forward to today, and I've finally stumbled across the technology to make up for my lack of desire to develop the vehicle for media content. It's been a wild several years and I'm looking forward to my original mission statement: A site dedicated to the storage of Tecmo Super Bowl rom back-ups, the development of patches to update and enhance the game, and the retention of all things Tecmo Super Bowl related.

First Post

I thought that having a blog for about doing this site, about Tecmo, or just random thoughts would be appropriate as often times I just have things I'd like to say or put out there that people might find value in, but don't necessarily belong on a message board.

Also, I figure this will be my way to get onto deadspin occasionally....
